THIs book is offered as an introduction to ophthalmology for students and medical practitioners. It certainly covers a wide field, including visual standards of various public bodies such as seamen, airmen, taxi-drivers, etc., as well as causes of blindness. Mlost of the newer drugs and treatment methods are included, but I feel quite a lot of the old might be left out. Sometimes a simpler classification might be given, and in glaucoma the latest classification is not given. On the whole, the book serves its purpose and can be recommended for students and medical practitioners. J. R. W.
